We recognize creatives work on limited budgets and will work with you to figure out the most affordable options. On average, fees are in this range for a 3-4 minute song:
Single violin tracks ~ $200
String section 2-3 parts, including midi demo arrangement ~ $300
String quartets, prices vary depending on whether a full live quartet or individually tracked instruments are preferred ~ $350
Larger orchestral projects, prices vary depending on complexity and arrangement needs ~ $500
Upon request, we can provide a detailed budget break down for each project.

Some projects call for epic orchestral string sections while others benefit from a more intimate string quartet or string bed. We can do this by layering 5-6 takes of each part. During this process, I alternate recording tracks using three different acoustic instruments in order to vary and enrich the tone and timber and more authentically imitate a "section" sound. I also vary bow speed & vibrato during the performances, which organically simulates different players. I generally provide two microphone options (most often a ribbon and condenser) and offer up to three different mic placements (close, mid, and far room mics). For one string section project, you would receive around 12-15 raw violin tracks to give your mixing engineer. Check out our samples here.

The microphone choice will vary with each project, but our studio includes AEA 84 Ribbon Mic, Telefunken FT11 Condensor, EV RE 20, AKG451, Rhode M5 Stereo Pair, WA-73 EQ preamp, True Systems P2 high fidelity stereo preamp, and a UA Apollo Interface
We offer multiple mic options with both close and room mic set-ups - especially helpful when mixing larger string sections.

Depending on the project, I am usually able to track violin parts 1-3 business days after receiving initial tracks. I am also able to accommodate tighter turn arounds for a small rush fee.
